🏢 devowl.io: Build innovative data protection solutions with us!
Since 2015, we at devowl.io have been developing and distributing WordPress plugins (and in the future also SaaS products) that make life easier for website owners. Over 200,000 websites trust our products for their needs, and we support them every day. 🍪 Real Cookie Banner, a consent management solution, is our most popular product, and we plan to develop further data protection products with you that not only meet legal requirements but are especially understandable for people in order to make compliance in their everyday lives easier.
In our small remote-first team, each employee is valued as an individual. We communicate as equals, self-organize our working hours around our lives and try to give our best together every day using modern technologies!
🧑💻 Your tasks
- Support in researching and maintaining legal and technical content for obtaining informed consent for the use of services on websites
- Creating layman-friendly instructions for documenting complex product features in an understandable way, under the guidance of experienced colleagues
(optional) If you want to learn about SEO, we’ll be happy to teach you 🙌
- Creating SEO-optimized, easy-to-understand articles on data protection and consent management that are also easy for laymen to understand
- Support in creating SEO-optimized articles for legally compliant service uses based on our comprehensive internal database
- (optional) Conception and creation of AI-generated (SEO-optimized) videos that clearly explain features and available service templates
🙅 What are not your tasks
- Endless hours in meetings (where you don’t have much to contribute)
- Long discussions with non-technicians about our software (you work closely with our developers)
🧠 What you should bring and be able to do
- At least in the third semester of a degree program or in the second year of an educational training program as a technical editor, technical communicator, media information scientist or in a comparable field (our products and customers require a strong understanding of computer science)
- Basic understanding of how the internet and web technologies work (you should be familiar with terms such as website, cookies and tracking methods)
- Strong interest in understanding the complex interrelationships of the practical implementation of data protection (law) and conveying the knowledge in language that is understandable for laymen (combined with the ability to tolerate frustration, since technical processes often have to be grasped first before they can be legally classified and then explained)
- (optional) First experience in creating SEO-optimized content
- (optional) Experience in using LLMs to efficiently prepare content (we are happy to share practical experience with you on how to progress faster)
- Have you ever built a WordPress website yourself? We definitely want to see it! (even if it was just a sidekick fun project)
- Conscious sharing of successes and failures within the team
- Don’t be afraid to treat everyone personally, on an equal footing and with humanity from the beginning
- Giving and accepting constructive feedback in order to grow together
- German and English fluent/business fluent (we work bilingually)
🌟 We offer you
- 100% remote work (personal meetings a few times a year, e.g. at team events or conferences)
- 15 to 20 hours per week of work (flexible for exam periods or during semester breaks)
- 18 € gross hourly salary
- Flexible working hours, tailored to your schedule
- Modern notebook of your choice (Mac/Windows/Linux) and other equipment for optimal work
- Doer mentality in a tech team with modern and highly automated software development. If an idea makes sense, it is quickly implemented!
- Opportunity to play a decisive role in ensuring that products that millions of website visitors use every day are easy to understand, while building up expertise in the fields of computer science and data protection law.
