You run multiple websites (under subdomains) or a WordPress multisite installation with many websites? Then you are probably wondering how many licenses of devowl.io products you need. We explain in this article, when you need how many licenses!
What do I need a license for? Website, domain or…?
You need one license per website on which you want to use devowl.io products. This gives you full access to regular updates, support and all features (which depend on cloud services). It doesn’t matter which domain or subdomain your website is running under, or whether it’s running in a WordPress standalone or WordPress multisite installation.
Each license of devowl.io products can be used on one production website and one staging/development website. Thus, if you run, for example, a website at example.com and a copy for development purposes at staging.example.com, you only need to purchase one license.
WPML/Polylang website with subdomains
You can run multilingual websites using WPML or Polylang, with each language running under its own subdomain. For example, you run the English version of the website under example.com and the German version under de.example.com.
In this case, you only need one license of devowl.io products. Technically, it is still one website with same/similar content per language.
You may be running a WordPress Multisite where you have several websites that belong to the same or different organizational unit(s). In that case, do you need one or more licenses?
Multiple websites under different (sub)domains
For example, you run the company website under example.com. The online store runs under store.example.com. And there is also a blog running under blog.example.com. All three websites are separate websites in your WordPress Multisite.
In the example, you need three licenses of devowl.io products because, technically, you run three separate websites. We can’t determine if they belong to one organization or to sub-organizations.
Multiple websites under different paths
For example, you run the company website under example.com. The online store runs under example.com/shop. And there is also a blog running under example.com/blog. All three websites are separate websites in your WordPress Multisite.
In the example, you need one license of devowl.io products. They are technically three separate websites, but since they run under the same domain, it can be assumed that they belong to one and the same organization. Therefore, as a gesture of goodwill, we exempt you from the obligation to purchase multiple licenses.
Discounts when purchasing multiple licenses
We can understand that it can be expensive if you run e.g. 10 websites and need to purchase 10 licenses for them. That’s why we offer discounts for most of our products if you purchase multiple licenses!
